Surrounded by family photos, Dean Baker of Mount Vernon talks about his wife, Kathy, who died as a result of a seizure on April 27. Friends, relatives and neighbors came to the Baker home to help plant around 240 acres of corn Monday. Seeing all of the acts of kindness and generosity made me feel good about living in this state, where acts like this are not uncommon.
