About Me:

I grew up in Fargo, N.D. and am the oldest of 5 children--who really aren't children anymore as my youngest brother, Stephen, is now a junior at MSUM.

I am married to Craig, a feminist who also changed his last name when we were married, and we have a daughter Emerson Grace, whom we named after the poet Ralph Waldo. Our basset hound, Buddy, a.k.a. the "test child" still humors us with this antics as well.

I earned my bachelor's degree in English Education from NDSU and my master's of fine arts degree in Creative Writing from MSUM. I've held a variety of jobs . . . My first was at KTHI TV in Fargo (now KVLY) as a production assistant--I ran the cameras and teleprompter. I've also been a disc jockey, a developmentally disabled caregiver and an English teacher, but I eventually found my way to print when I started writing poetry. . .

My Interests:

Reading, writing and painting. I do own a guitar and have been known to noodle on it when no one is looking (or listening!).

One of my favorite writers is Jose Saramago--nobel prize winner (1999) for the novel "Blindness," which I think truly is his best work. However, I occasionally read "trashy" novels, too.
